This refurbished Saeco Xsmall Vapore HD8645 superautomatic espresso machine is a great choice for those who want a fully automatic espresso machine on a budget, with the smallest possible footprint.
A word of caution though to those who only use French and Italian roast coffee beans: This machine (and in fact all modern Gaggia and Saeco Automatics) will not work well with very dark and oily beans. These extremely dark roasts interfere with the operation of the sensor in the grinder, and will result in frequent aborted cycles and frustration. Saeco discourages use of very dark oily roasts, but I don’t think they do an adequate job of explaining why: The machine just won’t work right with them. But hey, the benefit is that you will have an excuse to try all of the great medium and medium-dark roasts that actually taste like coffee, and don’t have the burnt charcoal taste of French roast.

Featuring the same brewing system as Saeco’s more expensive and larger machines, the Xsmall makes great coffee without taking up all of your counter space. Just make sure the 3.75″ dispensing spout height isn’t going to be an issue for your cups, as the Xsmall lives up to its name in every aspect.
