Steam Boiler with compression fittings and Faston terminals. Fits most dual boiler DeLonghi fully automatic models. Can also be used in many Saeco and Gaggia models, but you may need to replace the wire terminals because the older Saeco and Gaggia machines used a small round “pin” terminal. Verify connection types before ordering, use photo for reference and compare to your existing boiler.

The steam boiler terminals used in DeLonghi machines are made from a very thin metal and tend to loosen over time. If necessary, you can tighten the grip of the terminals by very gently pinching them with pliers before installation. If the terminals are loose they will arc and burn the protective covers (if installed). If the covers are missing and you cannot locate replacements, you can use an appropriate size heat shrink tubing instead.

If you are replacing your boiler due to a pinhole leak, your water may be slightly corrosive. This is especially common with well water. If this is the case, we recommend either treating your water to adjust the pH to a more neutral level (expensive), using a point-of-use filter with carbon filtration (not expensive), or purchasing purified water for use in your machine (not expensive but more wasteful). Note that most water filters do not remove calcium or magnesium hardness, so you will still need to perform descaling procedures as recommended by the manufacturer.

If you want to eliminate the need to descale altogether, you will need to use a filtration method that removes TDS, such as reverse osmosis or steam distillation. It is recommended to “spike” distilled water with a small amount of tap water or spring water to reduce the solvent nature of the distilled water (distilled water is a strong solvent and will dissolve trace amounts of most materials it comes in contact with).
